Electric Scooter Comparison – How to use the tool

Using the tool is very intuitive and simple, on purpose. It is intended to be used by anyone.

Settings of the tool which you can set are the following:

– Changing units between imperial and metric
– Changing currency between USD, CAD, EUR, GBP and AUD.
(Any change will reset the filters as well)

The tool is divided into a search section, and a results section.

The search section is where all the available variables/parameters can be selected. Whenever a change is detected in the search section (such as clicking on a brand name, or changing the price-range slider), the results section is updated automatically with live results.

You can combine any number of variables. The database which is behind this tool matches the variables (criteria) which you select and provides the resulting electric scooters with all their data.

On mobile browsers the tool works the same way, but is on top rather than to the side as in desktop.

Click on “reset filters” at anytime to reset all filters back to their default states.

There is a search-bar provided as well, which updates the results section instantly as you type. You may use this to type in any variable which can be found in the database.

Furthermore, there is a sort option at top of the search section. This option allows you to sort the results section according to your preference.

Clicking on an electric scooter will bring up a new page with detailed information about that model.

Compare all electric scooter models

Comparing electric scooters and matching a criteria you set yourself has never been easier. This tool makes it so quick and easy to just filter out any model of electric scooter based on your own requirements.

All e-scooters are shown in a new format which users are familiar with, making it very intuitive and straight-forward.

Finding the Best Electric Scooter

Whether you’re a commuter looking for a reliable ride, an adventurer seeking thrills, or simply someone who values eco-friendly transportation, this tool will help you navigate the plethora of options available. With over 600 electric scooter models in our extensive database, our advanced filter tool makes it easy to pinpoint the perfect scooter based on various parameters like range, speed, tire size, weight limit, and more.

Understanding Your Needs

Before diving into specific models and features, it’s crucial to understand what you need from an electric scooter.

Are you looking for a daily commuter that can handle urban terrain? Do you need something with a long range for extended trips? Or perhaps you’re seeking a high-speed scooter for weekend adventures. Identifying your primary use case will help narrow down your options significantly.

Use our comprehensive buying guide which goes into all aspects of identifying the right electric scooter for the riders needs.

Commuting

For those using an electric scooter as a daily commuter, factors like range, speed, and portability are paramount. You’ll want a scooter that can travel long distances on a single charge, reach adequate speeds to keep up with traffic, and is lightweight enough to carry into the office or onto public transport.

Recreation

If your electric scooter is for recreational use, you might prioritize speed and performance over portability. Features like robust suspension systems and larger tire sizes can enhance your riding experience, allowing you to tackle rougher terrains with ease.

Versatility

Some users need a versatile scooter that can handle both commuting and recreational use. In this case, finding a balance between range, speed, and additional features like suspension and brake systems is essential.

Key Factors to Consider

When selecting an electric scooter, several critical factors come into play. Here’s a detailed look at each one:

Electric Scooter Range

The range of an electric scooter refers to the maximum distance it can travel on a single charge. This is arguably one of the most important factors, especially for commuters.

Most electric scooters offer a range between 10 to 40 miles (16 to 64 km), with some high-end models exceeding 60 miles (97 km).

Consider your daily travel distance and choose a scooter that offers at least 20% more range than you need to account for variations in battery performance.

Electric Scooter Speed

Speed is another crucial aspect. While some users are content with modest speeds of 15 mph (24 km/h), others crave the thrill of faster rides, with some scooters reaching speeds over 40 mph (64 km/h). Always ensure the scooter’s speed aligns with local regulations and your comfort level.

Tire Size

Tire size impacts ride comfort and handling. Smaller tires (around 8 inches) are suitable for smooth pavements, while larger tires (10 inches or more) are better for rough terrains. Air-filled tires offer a smoother ride but can puncture, whereas solid tires are more durable but less cushioned.

Weight Limit

Each scooter has a maximum weight limit, which is crucial for safety and performance. Ensure the scooter can comfortably support your weight, considering any additional cargo you might carry.

Scooter Weight

The weight of the scooter itself is important, especially if you need to carry it up stairs or onto public transportation. Lightweight scooters (under 30 lbs) are easier to handle, while heavier models (over 50 lbs) offer more features but can be cumbersome.

IP-Classification

The Ingress Protection (IP) rating indicates how well the scooter is protected against dust and water. For urban commuters, an IP rating of IP54 or higher is ideal, providing protection against rain and splashes.

Suspension

A good suspension system enhances ride comfort, especially on uneven surfaces. Scooters can have front, rear, or full suspension, with full suspension offering the best comfort but typically at a higher cost.

Brake System

Effective brakes are vital for safety. Common systems include disc brakes, drum brakes, and regenerative braking. Disc brakes offer the best performance, especially in wet conditions, while regenerative braking helps extend battery life by converting kinetic energy back into electrical energy.

Price

Electric scooters range from budget-friendly models under $300 to premium options exceeding $2000. Determine your budget and compare models within that range, balancing cost with the features you need.

Battery Power

Measured in watt-hours (Wh), battery power impacts both range and performance. Higher watt-hour batteries provide longer range and better performance but also add to the scooter’s weight and cost.

Electric Motor Power

Motor power, measured in watts (W), influences acceleration and climbing ability. Commuter scooters typically have motors between 250W to 500W, while high-performance models can have motors exceeding 1000W.

Battery Voltage

Battery voltage, typically ranging from 24V to 72V, affects the scooter’s speed and power. Higher voltage batteries provide better performance but may require more maintenance.

Warranty

A solid warranty offers peace of mind, protecting you against manufacturing defects and providing support in case of issues. Look for scooters with at least a one-year warranty.

Using Our Tool to find the best Electric Scooter

Our advanced filter tool is designed to simplify your search for the perfect electric scooter. With over 600 models in our database, you can filter by virtually any variable, from range and speed to price and weight limit. Here’s how to make the most of this tool:

  1. Start with Your Priorities: Identify the top features you need (e.g., range, speed, price) and use these as your initial filters.
  2. Refine Your Search: Adjust additional filters like tire size, weight limit, and brake system to narrow down your options further.
  3. Compare Models: Once you have a shortlist, compare the models side by side to see which one best meets your needs.

Finding the Right Electric Scooter

Understanding Your Use Case

To find the right electric scooter, it’s crucial to understand how you plan to use it. Different use cases require different features, so let’s break it down:

Daily Commuting

For daily commuting, you’ll want a scooter with a good balance of range, speed, and portability. Look for models with ranges between 15 to 30 miles (24 to 48 km) and speeds around 15 to 20 mph (24 to 32 km/h). Lightweight models are ideal for carrying onto public transport or into buildings.

Recreational Use

For recreational use, performance and comfort are key. High-speed models with robust suspension systems and larger tires offer the best experience. Look for scooters with speeds over 25 mph (40 km/h) and advanced suspension for a smooth ride.

Versatility

If you need a versatile scooter for both commuting and recreation, consider models with mid-range specs across the board. A range of 20 to 40 miles (32 to 64 km), speeds around 20 mph (32 km/h), and features like front and rear suspension provide a good balance.

Evaluating Specifications

Carefully evaluate the specifications of each model to ensure it meets your needs. Pay attention to:

  • Range and Speed: Ensure the scooter’s range and speed align with your daily travel requirements.
  • Weight and Portability: Consider how often you’ll need to carry the scooter and whether it’s manageable for you.
  • Comfort Features: Look for suspension, tire type, and handlebar ergonomics to ensure a comfortable ride.

Test Rides and Reviews

Whenever possible, test ride a few models to get a feel for their performance and comfort.

Specialty Searches

Our filter tool can do more than just find the best overall scooter. It can help you pinpoint specific types of scooters based on your unique needs. Here are some specialty searches you can perform:

Fastest Electric Scooter

If speed is your primary concern, use the filter tool to find the fastest electric scooters on the market. Look for models with high motor power (10000W or more) and high battery voltage (48V or higher). These scooters can reach speeds over 40 mph (64 km/h), offering an exhilarating ride.

Longest-Ranged Electric Scooter

For those needing a scooter with a long range, filter by battery power and capacity. Scooters with higher watt-hour ratings (600Wh or more) and high-capacity batteries (15Ah or more) can travel over 60 miles (97 km) on a single charge, perfect for long commutes or extended rides.

Cheapest Electric Scooter

Budget-conscious buyers can find affordable options by filtering by price. Look for models under $300 that still offer decent range and speed. While these scooters may lack some premium features, they can be a great entry point into the world of electric scooters.

Most Expensive Electric Scooter

For those willing to splurge, filtering by the highest price range reveals the most luxurious models. These scooters often come with cutting-edge features, high-speed capabilities, long range, advanced suspension systems, and top-notch build quality.

Most Powerful Electric Scooter

Powerful electric scooters with motors exceeding 1000W are ideal for tackling steep hills and rough terrains. Use the filter tool to find models with high motor power and robust build quality, ensuring they can handle the toughest conditions.

Electric Scooter with the Heaviest Load Capacity

For heavier riders or those needing to carry significant cargo, look for scooters with high weight limits (250 lbs or more). These models are designed to provide stable and reliable performance under heavier loads.

Electric Scooter with the Largest Tire Size

Scooters with larger tires (10 inches or more) offer better stability and ride comfort, especially on uneven surfaces. Use the tire size filter to find models that prioritize a smooth and stable ride.

Sorting by Opposite Metrics

Our tool also allows you to sort by opposite metrics, such as the slowest, shortest-ranged, or least powerful scooters.

This can be useful for specific use cases or for finding models that match very niche requirements.
